It's true that waking up early ruins the day!

Wake up early and don't get enough sleep I don't like who I see

Adequate sleep can cure a day, while lack of sleep, with a day may not be able to cure.

Studies show that when sleep deprived, the brain is more inclined to interpret other people's expressions negatively.

Simply put: it's not good to look at anyone.

It is clear that there is no emotional "neutral expression face", people who have not slept enough will mostly interpret it as "threatening".

In other words, when you go to bed late and wake up early resulting in sleep deprivation, you will feel that other people are more threatening, less trustworthy and more likely to be hostile to others.

Just not enough sleep Grumpy

When you don't get enough sleep, you are more likely to get into conflict with others. It's like a powder keg, a little goes a long way.

This is related to the activity of the amygdala and prefrontal cortex.

The amygdala and prefrontal lobes are two structures in our brain. The amygdala is responsible for generating emotions, especially negative emotions such as anger and fear. The prefrontal lobe is responsible for rational thinking and suppressing emotions.

They are like the gas pedal and the brake. Normally, when the amygdala produces a negative emotional response, the prefrontal lobe can quickly suppress it, thus ensuring an 'emotionally stable' person most of the time.

But when sleep deprived, the brakes and throttle go haywire.

  • The amygdala is more likely to become 'overreactive', the throttle becomes unusually flexible, and the slightest thing can trigger more intense emotional changes.
  • The prefrontal control of the amygdala is also disrupted, and strong negative emotions cannot be suppressed in time and become more impulsive.

It's like a car at full throttle losing its brakes, and the consequence - an indiscriminate attack on everyone.

Not enough sleep for a few days All happiness disappears

What's worse than not getting enough sleep?

It's not getting enough sleep for several days in a row.

Research has found that continuous sleep deprivation not only turns 'special needs' people into pricks, but also brings a third layer of damage: self depletion.

Just one night of sleep deprivation can significantly reduce positive emotions the next day; for those who are continuously sleep deprived, the effects can add up and they may become increasingly 'bereft'.

Scientists had invited a group of healthy adults to conduct a 10-day experiment in which the process was to let them sleep at home and record sleep patterns.

After sleeping for 7 days according to their daily habits, the researchers asked the participants to sleep for 2 hours less than the average sleep time for the last 3 nights.

The results showed that sleeping 1.5 to 2 hours less than usual resulted in individuals becoming more impulsive and having fewer positive emotions.

Another study published in 2021 also showed that continuous sleep deprivation led to an increase in the accumulation of negative emotions.

However, it is reassuring to note that if participants who did not get enough sleep were allowed to return to a state of 'adequate sleep', their moods could return to normal levels.
